Annual Jobs Report Shows Cannabis Workforce Continues to Thrive

By BCB Staff Writer

Earlier this year online resource Leafly released an annual jobs report that declared “there has never been a better time to land a job in the legal cannabis industry.” As states continue to legalize, the workforce development opportunities in the cannabis industry are growing, evolving and proving a strong economic resource.

The report from Leafly projects when marijuana is legalized nationwide, the industry could support as many as 1.75 million jobs across the country. As of now 428,059 full-time equivalent jobs in the U.S. are supported by cannabis. In 2021, job creation in the cannabis industry hit six figures after adding 32,700 jobs in 2019 and 77,300 jobs in 2020.
