The cannabis industry to Denver, CO is what Heinz ketchup is to Pittsburgh, PA.
Craig Gomulka was quickly brought on as CFO of Flowhub
Therefore, it should make sense that a Steel City tech exec should want a stake in the booming marijuana capital. For more than two decades, Craig Gomulka was a partner at downtown Pittsburgh’s venture capital firm, Draper Triangle Ventures, before becoming CIO at Innovation Works and VP of Finance for Highmark Health. Following his stint in healthcare with Highmark, he moved to CFO at Health Fidelity. There, he found an interest in tech processing used to expedite the extraction of patient medical chart data insights.
The Carnegie Mellon graduate was able to parlay that tech work into a job across the country at Flowhub, a Denver-headquartered cannabis retail management platform; he was quickly brought on as CFO of the software company. Flowhub is focused on the “modern dispensary.” Updated technological capabilities, including point-of-sale opportunities, updated compliance, inventory tracking systems, and market intelligence data collection, are all available in one condensed service. Annually, Flowhub turns $1 billion in sales by way of more than 900 retailers and associated partners. Founded in 2015, the cannabis company has already partnered with some of the most well-known names in e-commerce, delivery, and data analytics. Leafly, Jane, Weedmaps, Dutchie, Sprout, Wikileaf, and HP, among others, have all entrusted Flowhub with their data processing needs.
“Our mission at Flowhub is to make safe cannabis products accessible to every adult on planet earth, and to do that; we need to hire the best in their field. Craig and Scott will be instrumental in our ongoing goal to deliver the most reliable and robust cannabis retail platform for our customers. These individuals will tackle the financial and product needs that come with a company growing at a rate like ours as we continue to drive the industry forward.” – Flowhub CEO Kyle Sherman
“It’s not very often that you get to be a part of a movement like the one taking place in the cannabis industry right now,” Gomulka said. “I was drawn to Flowhub because of the positive work the company is doing to advocate for change. Flowhub is more than a [software as a service] leader; it’s part of the roots helping cannabis entrepreneurs thrive in a highly regulated landscape. I’m looking forward to leading an environment of stability and vitality as we continue on a high growth trajectory.”
Currently, Flowhub helps cannabis industry partners in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Oregon, and varies rates depending on the size of the business. Boutique shops can receive this technology for $499 per month following a one-time $1,000 software implementation service. Multi-location cannabis franchises are priced at $499 per location plus an overarching $199 Nug Stash app, $199 Nug Check In app, and $99 API access, in addition to the $1,000 software implementation cost.
At the same time that Gomulka was hired, Flowhub also brought on a Chief Technology Officer with the hiring of Scott Schell. Schell found his way to Denver following time spent as CTO and Vice President of companies such as GuideSTAR, Maptek, LogRhythm, and Convercent and a Masters in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado.
