In higher education, everyone was on high alert for plagiarism. In business, plagiarism no longer gets a failing grade; instead, it could end in a failing business. Tracking plagiarized content in the marijuana industry is not as easy as running words through systems like Grammarly or Plagiarism Checker, though.

In the cannabusiness space, business owners are not protected by patents due to the federal Schedule 1 notation surrounding the use and sale of marijuana. If only there was a technology that verified all digital assets, including displays, mobile ads, social media advertisements, copywriting, call to actions, and more. Enter Compass.

“Building a successful cannabis business means having to deal with numerous regulatory hurdles and roadblocks. Each state government and local municipality has its own stringent rules on advertising, which makes it complicated for brands to advertise holistically. We’ve built Compass using the most advanced AI and image analysis technology to help give clients complete trust and confidence in compliance, so they can put more attention into running much bigger campaigns in better environments.”

– Chad Bronstein, Fyllo Founder and CEO

Compass, a technology meant to verify compliance on digital assets, was unveiled in late March 2020 as a new innovation from Fyllo. The technology platform for the cannabis sector uses proprietary tech called “Compliance Recognition Technology.” As part of the Fyllo Compliance Cloud, Compass enables businesses at the federal, state, and local levels to utilize advanced artificial intelligence, imaging recognition, and language processing in order to conduct analytic research on people, products, and brands.

The program cross-references a photo with regulations at the federal, state, and local levels to ensure that branding hasn’t already been used. In addition, the Compass system will supply recommendations for changes that will bring branding assets back into plagiarism’s good graces.

“Building a successful cannabis business means having to deal with numerous regulatory hurdles and roadblocks,” Chad Bronstein, Fyllo Founder and CEO, said. “Each state government and local municipality has its own stringent rules on advertising, which makes it complicated for brands to advertise holistically. We’ve built Compass using the most advanced AI and image analysis technology to help give clients complete trust and confidence in compliance, so they can put more attention into running much bigger campaigns in better environments.”

So far, Compass is being utilized by the likes of cannabis market giants such as Apothecanna, Columbia Care, Papa & Barkley, and Grassroots. The programming is not just for up and running cannabusinesses, though. Fyllo CTO Erik Shani said that the technology is available to anyone managing creative assets over numerous platforms.

“For emerging cannabis companies, maintaining creative compliance can be an ongoing headache, and in order to get to the next level, they need to spend less time managing and assessing creative assets, and more time focusing on optimizing performance,” Shani said. “By arming businesses with superior technology and compliance capabilities, we are giving them access to insightful tech-driven tools that will enable them to extend their reach and realize bigger ambitions.”

Compass was structured around CannaRegs, the industry’s premier cannabis regulatory database. Due to that, as industry standards and laws change, Compass is set to adapt automatically.
